As an independent 16-year-old with a relentless passion for design, Kelly Hoppen was given the opportunity to design a family friend’s kitchen. This modest commission kick-started one of the most celebrated and extraordinary careers in the design industry.
Kelly’s ever-evolving style is underpinned by a subtle coordinated fusion of East meets West; clean lines and neutral tones, blended with charming warmth and sumptuous opulence. She puts her stamp on the homes, yachts and jets of private clients, as well as many commercial projects the world over, including hotels, bars, restaurants, yachts, offices, aircraft and tower blocks.
Kelly is honoured to be the recipient of copious design awards and the proudest point in her career to date came in 2009, when she was made an MBE for her services to interior design. Recognised for the passion of empowering women in business, she was awarded the NatWest Everywoman Ambassador award in December 2013 amongst numerous other accolades which include a firm position on the Debrett’s 500 Most Influential People List.
With 40 years experience at the forefront of the industry, publishers and businesses continually seek Kelly’s unparalleled expertise, allowing her to indulge her entrepreneurial instincts. As she is passionate about making her design ethos accessible to the masses, Kelly launched her eighth book Design Masterclass in November 2013.
In 2013 Kelly became an investor on BBC Two’s hit Dragon’s Den entrepreneur show and has since invested and helped make a success of several businesses including Skinny Tan, Reviveaphone and Clean Heals, to name a few. In 2011 she fronted Channel 5 Design Series, Superior Interiors and has appeared on various shows throughout her career including Good Morning Britain, 8 out of 10 cats, Saturday Kitchen, CNN Richard Quest, The Wright Stuff and Room 101. In February 2015, Kelly was announced the face of new YouTube Business Channel, the B-Tube Network which was set up as a source of advice and tips for small business and entrepreneurs.
The Kelly Hoppen brand, keeping true to its core values of high quality, simplicity and timeless elegance, has collaborated with selected brands and partnered with a select number of licensees. The wider licensed product collection consists of shutters, commercial fabrics for hospitality use, paints, wallpaper, taps, and a bath collection.
Kelly launched her debut e-commerce store, kellyhoppen.com, in January 2014. The affordable luxury store features a self-designed home products range including accessories, bed linen, cushions, candles, furniture, towels and robes and gifts, all carrying Kelly’s iconic style.
A dedicated supporter of good causes and the championing and nurturing of younger and older British entrepreneurs, Kelly is an ambassador for the Princes Trust and the Princes Initiative for Mature Enterprise. Kelly is a proud ambassador for the Government’s GREAT campaign and has worked with UK Trade & Investment mentoring small and medium sized businesses.
